For this drawing, Nicklaus was tasked with taking existing cubist 3D art and 2D art and combining them into one composition. He chose the pieces Berlin Abstraction, a painting by Marsden Hartley, as well as the sculpture Infant Girl by Miguel Guía.
Instead of drawing the sculpture simply in front of the background, Nicklaus decided to ingegrate the details of Berlin Abstraction onto the seemingly 3D Infant Girl.
Another challenge he gave himself was that Nick wanted to invert the values; turning black to white and white to black. The secret of this piece is when the values are seen in reverse.

Created for his Drawing II class at Northwest Arkansas Community College, Nicklaus Taylor was tasked with creating a digital collage using natural and unnatural elements.
The class was then instructed to crop the collage to make a new composition.
This piece features art from the Rider Waite Tarot Deck, a statue by KAWS, Alexandre Cabanel’s Fallen Angel, and Double Man by Keith Haring, as well as other references.
